Does the agony of childbirth disprove Intelligent Design?

There is a mythological explanation for it in the skrolz, but ID claims to be a purely scientific endeavor independent of any religion. So Genesis is off the table. Wouldn't an Intelligent Designer create his femyle creatures so they could reproduce without enduring excruciating agony?
