In my first real relationship and I need some advice?

My name is Jessica. I am 22 years old and I am in my first real relationship. I have know the guy for about 5 months, but we have only been dating for a month. At first he said I was beautiful all the time and he jumped right into saying he loved me. We got into an argument this last weekend and now he wants to take a step back. I am worried that he is reconsidering wanting to be with me. I think about him all the time, I love to be around and I care about him. He says he feels the same way about me. I just don't how fast or slow to take things or really what I should be feeling or not feeling. I worry all the time that he will lose interest in me or things will not work out. I guess I just want some advice ,because I am kind of confused. I don't know exactly how to express how I feel, so if you have any questions just ask. Thank you for all the responses in advance.
