If the world hates America, then why are some countries a democracy?

UK, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Japan, European nations, India, Brazil, Canada, etc are all democracies. If we are hated, then why do these people copy our government system? Also, why do they trash our nation and then watch an American movie, while sipping on Starbucks, wearing a Nike shirt, munching on McDonalds, chatting on iPHONE, and recharging a laptop (IBM, DELL, GATEWAY, HP - All American). Without our inventions and technology, you can bet that most of these nations would still live in the stone age.
